Tim - Thank you for calling. It was grand to catch up with you.
I broke the X arm system down and found that the screws holding the two halves of the motor case together had come loose. I tightened those 3 screws and put it all back into place. When I ran the x axis, the motor appeared to be grinding somehow. I then took it all down again and opened up the motor case. The gear cluster had come out of location within the case. Subsequently, the gear cluster fell out of the case as individual components and onto (all over) my work space.
