B9 1.2 X axis motor is rattling

My vat arm motor lower section is loose and rattling when the machine is running.

What do I need to do?

Mark,
You have to check that the hex bolt is tight on the arm that is attached to the motor.
It needs to be set in a position so the screw tightens on the flat part of the motors spindle.

or do you mean the motor itself is loose?
if that is the case tighten the screws holding the motor to frame.

Tim - Thank you for calling. It was grand to catch up with you.


I broke the X arm system down and found that the screws holding the two halves of the motor case together had come loose. I tightened those 3 screws and put it all back into place. When I ran the x axis, the motor appeared to be grinding somehow. I then took it all down again and opened up the motor case. The gear cluster had come out of location within the case. Subsequently, the gear cluster fell out of the case as individual components and onto (all over) my work space.

Clock says 12:44. I'm done for the day.

Once I receive a new Xmotor or when I rebuild one for someone, I wrap electrical tape around the Joining area of the motor and gear box. That way, it eliminates any vibration and does increase the life of the motor/ gears by quite a bit
