Uploading files

The forum now supports the upload/download of .stl, .b9l and .b9j files.

This should be helpful when wishing to share job files, etc.

As an example, I'm attaching 5 sample .stl ring files:
Kevs Ring 1.stl
(10.65 MiB) Downloaded 276 times
Gemvision4.stl
(6.83 MiB) Downloaded 233 times
Gemvision3.stl
(5.09 MiB) Downloaded 227 times
Gemvision2.stl
(24.25 MiB) Downloaded 237 times
Gemvision1.stl
(29.78 MiB) Downloaded 246 times

A 30XY Layout (.b9l) file containing the 5 rings with supports:
B9Samples.b9l
(8.58 KiB) Downloaded 237 times

And a Job (.b9j) file with the Layout sliced at 30z:
B9Samples_30_30.b9j
(11.72 MiB) Downloaded 211 times

If you download the .stl and .b9l files to the same directory, you should be able to open the .b9l file (from Layout in the software) and view/edit the Layout of the rings.

Please note: Because .stl files can be VERY large and we may have to limit/delete them if too much is uploaded. If you wish to share a vary large .stl file (>50MB or so), please consider using a service such as http://www.thingiverse.com

Thanks Mike for making this available. Havn't been on CacCamTrav in a few years. Maybe should go back and sign up. Lots of good info there.

Ok now that is pretty cool and definitely helpful.
I would consider using an RAR (zipped) file to upload to the site to save space.

This could be very helpful in the future
Thanks Mike.

I would love to get back on CCT once again.

When I try to open the download i get this dialogue box on the multiple rings with supports, is it supposed to do this.

Trying to open sample b9l.JPG

If I say "no" to manual search (multiple times) to several boxes, then it opens only 2 or 3 of the 5 rings.

I have found that if all the stls are not in the same location as what was there during the layout process you cannot open another layout without it asking this.
are all the stl files in the same location?

All of the .stl files AND the .b9l file should be placed in the same directory, to avoid those messages.

figured out what happened. I had not looked at all five of the models (downloads). The three i had opened show up. So i guess that answers my question. Just download to same location (folder).

Thanks for the extra work on the forum tools.

directory or folder same same.
you could leave them all on your desktop as long as they don't move till your done.

like picture frame in Matrix.
you move the picture and open the file it was in before and there is no picture.

FYI, while I am on that subject always make a rectangle of the picture frame once it is all adjusted and save it in job bag.
you can always bring it back to that size if it is lost connections.

Thanks Mike! Now we can help each other solve printing issues related to model orientation and supports on those tricky and problematic models. :D

On my desk top I have a main folder called customer files. I create a file folder for each customer. That is where I keep all relevant info Including STL files, 3dm files and renderings.
If I need to run the Job again, the files will always be in their specific folders, so no problem reloading any file.
