Great work and Photos!

I have noticed that the green produces less hazing on the pdms... Getting longer pdms life.

If the black was castable, could prob get 100 hrs on PDMS, depending on prints.

I really like the green myself.

Yes, the green resin is definitely easier on the pdms.

.55 carat fancy greenish yellow, GIA cert. 14k white gold. Designed in Artcam, printed on the B9, cast finished and set here in shop 8-)

What a beautiful design, print, and pictures! I love them so much. By the way, how do you get such great pictures? What lens and camera are you using? Look like professional photographs.

Thanks sovannor! I am using an Olympus OM-D E-M5 with 60mm macro lense. I was recommended this camera from someone on this forum....cannot remember who though.

By the way TAJS, can I ask you about your process please?

1 - So after printing, you clean the model with dish washing soap in an ultrasonic, right? For how long?
2 - Then you cure the model in a kiln for one hour at 300F and another hour at 350F, right?
3 - Are you using Satin Cast 20 or Plasticast? Which one is better?
4 - For the Emerald resin burning schedule, are you doing 300F for 3 hours, 700F for 1 hour, 1350F for 3 hours, and 1000F for 1 hour?
5 - Are you using air compressor to blow out the ash before casting method or just cast after 8 hours burn out?

I apologize for throwing out too many question at once. I am new to B9 resin and still can't get the same result as yours yet. Thank you in advance for your help.

Inspect your printed model and clean it until the excess resin has been removed. Lately, I have been using the ultrasonic with Simple Green. I heat cure for 2 hrs and then uv cure, sometimes an hour....sometimes I get busy and uv for ~3 hrs. I am using plasticast but others have luck with satincast. I am unsure of the exact ramp schedule of my 8 hr burnout...... I have tried 5 hour burnouts with hit and miss results. I do vacuum out my flask prior to casting. Hope this helps.....

TAJS wrote:Didn't know where else on the forum top put this.........I have successfully used a vat for so long that the light from the projector has slightly clouded the acrylic window...kinda like how the light from the projector clouds the pdms....does that make sense? I do not have the actual data of how many prints and hours are on this vat or the number of pdms re-coatings I did on this vat (several hours and I would guess at least 4-5 recoatings)....note the area inside the orange rectangle. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it an issue to be concerned with? The attached image of the vat has no pdms.

I had some issues with my current vat that had what looked like cloudy spots. From a thread I found on this forum someone cleaned their vat with headlight cleaner. I went to AutoZone and bought Meguiar's Plast-X Clear Plastic Cleaner and Polish and it worked really well.

Although, I would caution you to test it first but it worked for me and really cleaned the window.

Nice work. Great photos.
You're getting a very sweet surface with the Emerald resin.

Excellent models & pictures.

In the larger ring with the filigree pattern on the side, how do you get such fine lines in the emerald resin? I seem to have trouble building delicate lines like that.

Thanks

Fine details are about projector calibration and most importantly focus. He is also slicing at 25z which mostly helps with really fine details. Tajs is also at 30 xy resolution.
