New life

I still have my 1.2 and 1.1.5 (upgraded 1.0 to 1920x1080).
I would love to replace them with a Core 930 and a Core 950, but being a hobbyist - no way.
To be true while the Creators are not really part of the current crop, they still deliver good results and I'm more or less content.
One of the things I'm not content with is replacing PDMS. It's not complicated, but it's tedious. You know one of the things in which you invest more time avoiding than doing them.
So I set out to do something about it.
Image
In short it's a FEP vat. And it works. That's a 50µ print and I haven't done many prints in 50µ. On the other printer - set to 30µ - I've done about 100 prints with a single sheet of FEP. The only thing to kill a FEP sheet seem to be failed prints. It's not the fact that a print fails, but when you remove the resin from the vat, you might hurt the FEP or if you start a new print with the remains from the failed print still on the plate. Been there ... . Good news the FEP gets damaged, but does not leak.
The vat sits on the rail and the shutter needs only to move at the beginning and end of print, so you can save some time. Some of it is lost because you will have to overlift more than before.
If you want to read some more details look at https://brumbaer.de/3d-printing/62-daddys-4.html.

Long live the B9Creator.

Hi Brumbaer

That is so cool,

Are you able to use any of B9c Resin?

What is the setting to make the red plate just to move at beginning and at the end of the print only?

You said use 3mm for overlift , what is the others setting that you use like (Pre release lift, Overlift cutoff,Initial Overlift and Subsequene Overlift) ?

Thanks for sharing.

Hello Mike, I use my own software which runs on a Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry runs some kind of printer server and is controlled from any browser over the network.
The Raspberry just handles the print process, slicing is done withe the B9Creator software. https://brumbaer.de/3d-printing/38-daddys-2.html

I don't think that you can prevent the B9Creator software to open the shutter at start of print and close it only when the job ist finished, but you can set the movement speed of the shutter to ridiculous speeds and could reduce its movement by changing the Slide Open/Slide home values (hope remember that correctly) and reducing the Shuttermintime.
Can't really test it, because my printer is not set up close to a computer with the original B9 software on it. See above.

Regarding the B9 resin. Haven't used any B9 resin for over a year, but I do not know, why it shouldn't work. You will have to find the correct exposure values. You have to strike a balance between not long enough to stick at the build plate and so long that it will stick harder to the Fep.
The Epax stuff is much better than Fep and gives more lee way regarding exposure values.
The only problem I ran into was a very quick-curing resin. Even when the projector showed only the black background, the residual brightness was strong enough to cure resin when the shutter was open all the time.

These are from a log file. The values correspond to the values with close enough names in the B9 software. There are some values which have no equivalent. The print server ignores values regarding shutter movement in this "print mode".

Thanks Brumbaer for you advised.

I don't think I able to use any of those settings for the b9 software but I may just prelift higher like 5 mm instead of .30 mm to able to lift up the print off the Fep film.

Hello Mike,
All those settings have their equivalent in the B9Creator Software

Startprint: { _config: "B9Creator v1.2.0, XY at 30 microns",
_path: "/home/pi/B9/data/MeshedRoof_30xy_30z.b9j",

exposuere values time
_tBase: 0.510011,
_tOver: 0.226672,
attach layers
_al: 2,
_aBase: 1.246694,
_aOver: 0.566679,

Cycle settings

_upm: 0.8,
_shutterOpen: 30,
_shutterClose: 30,
_preExp: 1,
_postExp: 0.2,
_postRel: 0,
_oCutoff: 0.5,
_oInitial: 5,
_oSubsequent: 2,
_dip: 0,

Other values from advanced settings

_xScale: 1,
_yScale: 1,

"MSM": 1000, // value * 1000
"Slope": 50,
"Balance": 0,
"Fade": 0,
"SerialNumber": 4200088,
"LampHours": 51,
"Backlash": 0,
"Z Home": 9200,
"Slide Open": 4100,
"Slide Home": 590,

How useful they might be is something different :)

Regards
Stephan

Interesting. I haven't used my printer in a couple years. Mostly becasue I had some issues with prints coming out shorter than they were supposed to be, and nothing I tried seemed to make a difference. (Also, really annoyed that B9 no longer supports the B9C, and won't even develop settings for the newer resins.) Maybe I'll see what I can come up with. I have a Creality on order, so I can print my own vats.
