Resin OOPS

I hadn't used my B9 in about a week and a half. Needed to run it yesterday so I poured the resin in the vat back in the bottle, shook it, warmed it up and debubbled in an ultrasonic for a while, poured into the vat when instructed for the current job. When I opened the print dialog, the setting for ...

Re: MWM B9 progress

Btw....I love the way you supported the head by making the prongs the actual supports. Thank you, Kris I have been using that crown style for almost a decade - ever since "castable" resin was possible. The integrated "supports" are also the sprue gate. My EnvisionTek machine usi...

Re: wierd squeak

My B9 was born with that squeak. Put a drop of light machine oil on / in the white plastic bushing that pulls / pushes the vat slide - the upright pin at the small end of the vat X arm. I also lightly oiled the delrin(?) guides that the vat tray slides within. This cut the sound of the machine immea...

Re: MWM B9 progress

Thank you for your kind words, Danny

I printed this a few times - some more smooth than others. Some in Cherry - some in 1:1 mix. I've been flat out over here for weeks. I really don't remember which one I actually cast - but it was more smooth than the print in the above photo.

Re: MWM B9 progress

I think I actually used a different / smoother print job for the castings. I sent the attached print photo to the customer. It might take a few rounds to sort but it works for me. Re: One bad quad

Thanks for your input folks. I put quarters under the left legs of the machine and tried the same build a second time. Second run almost exactly like the one posted here. So I adjusted the balance and the fade because the problem seems to be in the rear, right side when looking at the front of the m...

Re: One bad quad

Travis - that makes perfect sense. The failed section is on the far right side of the vat on the machine.

Thank you!

One bad quad

This just came off of the machine. Brand new bottle of Cherry. The vat is clear. This table and vat have made some fine batches at current calibration in Cherry but failed similarly with 1:1 mix. MSM at .7 but the bases look to be over cured. Dimensions of the parts look good. All but the back, righ...

Re: Trouble in Paradise!

Hi Kris and Welcome

I don't know what the consensus might be but I do let my B9 run after I leave for the day. So far - no troubles.

Re: Problems castig platinum with red resin

romecar, Your photo looks like you either have a serious ash problem or your platinum investment is reacting badly to the resin. Something is either stuck to the surfaces of your shell or it has eaten into those surfaces. It does not look like incomplete burnout. I've read that some platinum investm...

Re: Problems castig platinum with red resin

Without photos, I'm going to guess that you have either incomplete burnout of your resin or residual ash. I had too many flasks in a burnout a few weeks ago and - either my kiln didn't hit the top end of the cycle at all or it didn't stay there long enough and there wasn't sufficient oxygen in the c...

Re: is there a uv resin that cures soft like silicone?

You could - maybe - print molds for the lures on your B9 and pour the soft silicone into those molds.

Re: MWM B9 progress

Robert - the problem might be with the investment used by your casters.Resin burnout has been said to destroy some otherwise exemplary platinum investments. I use Talladium Galaxy 2 investment for my platinum always - and for gold casting from printed resin models. Platinum castings are not often ne...

Re: MWM B9 progress

Wow now its something new and I wantto try it also :) so straight cherry can be casted in platinum too? All of my platinum casting for the past - not sure but - about 6 to 8 weeks has been from B9 printed parts. One gold casting as well. Most of those were Cherry resin. A few were, undoubtedly, 1:1...

Re: MWM B9 progress

I ran two more 1:1 batches yesterday after reverting to only Mike's settings - and dropping Roberts tweaks. Rather than over cure and stepping I got as seen above, had softer surfaces and partially errant parts. Ribbons of light cured but unattached resin running through my parts. It was a long day ...

Re: Trouble adjusting projector at 30 micron

I've been using a Dino-Lite usb microscope plugged into the mill computer beside the B9 computer. I raise the z arm up as high as it goes and screw the microscope post / bracket at the mounting hole for the build table. I can only capture half of the 30 grid at that height and Y position but half se...

Re: MWM B9 progress

Hi Chris, Yup and yup. I failed with 1:1 mix a while back and have used only Cherry until I tried the mix again last week. My B9 models and platinum castings have run the gamut from sincerely smooth to less than. Your photos in this thread are sincerely smooth. Your Yamaha signet is impressive as we...
