Wax / techniques for making sprues

Folks, I pretty much always design sprues into the 3d models. Like this: https://photos.smugmug.com/GraciesGold/B9-Creator/n-TBCbC/i-FQSnGPn/1/L/i-FQSnGPn-L.jpg That way, all I have to do is melt wax onto the base and place my prototype in the wax. I've seen here that some of you actually create wax...

Re: Ring being printed lopsided

I would suggest running your stl through a mesh "troubleshooter" like Netfabb, prior to Layout.

Don't tempt me, Mike. I promised myself that I'd never talk politics here or on the CAD forums.

Gosh, but I want to.

B9 Emerald is so boring (in a good way)

I still have about one liter of red / cherry mix, but decided to try emerald. Yep. It's boring. Boringly easy and reliable. I have absolutely NO issues with it at all. - it seems to grow more reliably than with cherry (and yellow) - it seems that it bleeds less than cherry (with emerald, to make sma...

Re: Better Vat

So I love the newer vats that B9 are putting out...but. The plastic on the bottom and keeping it clean is a nightmare sometimes and scratches really easy. Do we have any other solutions like glass or something more resilient? I only use all cloth and glass cleaner on inside and out...cant imaging i...

Actually, you were right, Robert. I hadn't noticed that my computer's clock was on Pacific Time also. It appears the B9 software just picks up the time off Windows.

Thanks!

Re: Fep Film /Europe

Thanks. I don't have the energy to experiment with FEP. I suppose I'll wait till a commercial modification to our machines becomes available. Even with Emerald, I'm getting about 20 - 25 hours of life out of each PDMS recoating. It's the one, and only one, "negative" of this machine. And f...

How to reset clock on 1.8.6?

After a hard disk crash, I had to reinstall the B9 software. All is good, but the clock during prints reads U.S. Pacific time. I'm in Central time.

How do I change that? It's not that huge a deal, but it's sorta annoying issue

Re: Fep Film /Europe

Dumb question, but I assume the FEP is slippery enough that the prints slide off during the normal B9 print cycle?

If having to click that "accept" button is the biggest problem I'm gonna have today, it's gonna be a good one.

No biggie. I just thought I'd ask.

Do you want to allow this app.....

My hard disk crashed and I've had to reinstall everything. Windows 10, Rhino, and the B9 software As the B9 printer saves printer settings, I don't have to recalibrate MSM; this is outstanding! But this new version of Windows 10 stops me everytime I open the B9 software: "Do you want to allow t...

Re: Watch out for Microsoft 10 latest update.

I can't be the only one who is having an issue with MS! You're not the only one. I had a major hard disk crash early this week. Local electronics store (Best Buy) installed a new hard drive. When I reinstalled the B9 software, I couldn't get the dual screens to work. I called B9 tech support and th...

Re: Casting ring cut in half

Thanks, folks. Some really great ideas here! I ended up just using a bunch of supports. I got a good print (50:50 red:cherry @30xy) https://photos.smugmug.com/GraciesGold/B9-Creator/n-TBCbC/i-nZbrJQW/0/L/i-nZbrJQW-L.jpg But I'll definitely use your suggestions when I have to reconnect rings I had to...

Re: Casting ring cut in half

Robert, by "join in resin," you'd actually get some cherry (for example), brush it on the joints, than place it under UV light?

Casting ring cut in half

Folks,

How would you cast something like this?

Image

- Would you cast two pieces of this, then solder them together, or

- Would you glue the two pieces together prior to investing?

Re: Great tool for attaching printed parts

Just looking through these old threads and I got an idea from this one.

Robert, might you use this glue to connect two ring halves that you had to cut before printing (you know, so that prongs would grow up), prior to investing?

Thanks, Robert.

I always build my sprues into my model, and have wondered how y'all got the wax to stick.
