Re: BEST CAD PROGRAM?

Another point: You are not just buying a jewelry plugin. You're buying a Rhino interface. Matrix and RhinoGold "force" you to use their interface. These interfaces are quite thoughtfully designed. But what if you "think" differently than that interface forces you to? Matrix's int...

Re: BEST CAD PROGRAM?

Whether you use Matrix, RhinoGold, or Cadwax, you should remember that these are all Rhino plugins. You should view your question more like this one: I want to use Rhino to design rings. Which jewelry plugin should I use? Frankly, while I use RhinoGold every day, I instead use the Rhino interface, a...

Re: First print using FEP and custom made build table

I'm also trying FEP, at 30xy with emerald resin. I also have problems with the prints sticking to the FEP. I've tried smearing some oil on the FEP, and it helps, but during a print longer than a calibration, the oil wears off and the prints start sticking. I suspect there are settings we can change....

I suppose I could start guessing what features this new machine has, but that might be rude.

Re: New upgraded build table

You will have to puchase both pieces as a unit. The wider build table assembly will not work with the original. Robert Howle It would be cool, though, to buy one entire unit plus a spare bottom half unit. You know, so you can keep printing while the first one dries after washing. Just thinking out ...

Re: New upgraded build table

I looked for the notice from B9, but couldn't find it. I'm a bit confused by this text in the description of the table: "The B9Creator Stainless Steel Build Platform is a great accessory when using multiple materials & vats. Having multiple platforms speeds material changes and the printing...

Re: fogging pdms

This fogging of the PDMS is normal. It's inherent to the chemistry during the curing of the resin. Everyone with a B9 experiences this. I keep a record of each print so I can track hours on the pdms layer. My PDMS, using emerald and printing at 30xy, lasts about 25 hours before I have to replace it....

Re: b9creator for business production?

My B9 is pretty much running every day. I typically put between 25 - 30 hours per week on my machine, which coincides exactly with how long a PDMS layer lasts. On Tuesday, I install a vat with a fresh PDMS layer and run it all week. On Saturday, I remove that vat, take off the pdms, and recoat over ...

Re: B9 Emerald is so boring (in a good way)

Since I normally burnout overnight, I haven't cared to optimize the burnout schedule. I do this: Full ramp to 300F, hold for 3 hrs ramp to 650F, hold for 1 hr ramp to 1425F, hold for 3 hrs ramp to 900F and cast after the flask has temp equilibrated for at least 2 hrs Oh, I've used cones to confirm m...

Re: B9 Emerald is so boring (in a good way)

No, I'm on a v1.2 at 30xy. One of the early machines that I bought from Mike at JCK.

For this signet ring, it took 4.9 hours for 1363 layers. Too long?

Re: B9 Emerald is so boring (in a good way)

"Print, cure and invest in the same day" seems like a difficult schedule to meet, unless you work longer than 8 hours. An average ring takes 5 hours to print, so that doesn't leave much time. My schedule: Day 1 late afternoon: - setup print job to print overnight Day 2 - first thing in the...

Another Support Suggestion

https://photos.smugmug.com/GraciesGold/B9-Creator/n-TBCbC/i-Br7CG7n/0/L/i-Br7CG7n-L.jpg The supports feature in the Layout program is just so handy, that I get tempted to use it for perhaps more than I should. One area where it fails is when I was to use supports from the Layout program as casting ...

Re: Wax / techniques for making sprues

I also make my own sprue wax in many different sizes and shapes... I made molds on all of them so I can inject as needed in any wax. For me, the most important thing to do is to melt some of the wax onto the print , then use the wax welder to move it around a bit and get it to really bond to the b9...
