Re: 12HR PRINT FAILING AT 1/2 WAY POINT

I was going to post almost the same advice as Metalcaster. I also suspect the pdms is being damaged during that print, causing the print to fail midways.

Consider orienting the stl in such a way so as not to print over the same spot over and over. (Tilting the object).

Robert,

I know someone interested in Countersketch. I've forwarded them this thread.

Yes, Robert. I did. That foundation layer is important.

I just created those pics for this forum and in my haste, forgot to add the foundation

Re: Supports and PDMS wear

Good job, Another suggestion is on your side supports change the upper taper to 75% it will give you a thicker area to connect to the ring. I would again make a tapered support like in Robert's photo. Notice there that he uses a tapered sprue and it is very short. We cut those base tapered sprues o...

Re: Supports and PDMS wear

I found this advice so helpful that I though I'd rephrase it, just to make sure folks understood. This has undoubtedly been posted before, but I guess I just never understood it. The normal way I layout a typical ring. (note: I'd normally add a few more supports on the underside of the inner shank) ...

Re: Supports and PDMS wear

Ah!

I was wonder how that was done. Thanks!

Now I can make my sprue shorter and use more wax cylinder length to sprue it up to the base. Cool

Supports and PDMS wear

My 1.2 machine is working so well, that it seems the only time I pose questions is with supports and sprues issues. I normally design my casting sprues into my rings in Rhino. Like this. https://photos.smugmug.com/GraciesGold/B9-Creator/n-TBCbC/i-DBKMqNz/0/L/i-DBKMqNz-L.jpg Then when I add supports ...

Re: First print using FEP and custom made build table

I've had some pressing commercial runs to make and have been using pdms to get through this stage. All is working fine with PDMS. With FEP, the prints stick extremely well to the build table, telling me that table alignment isn't an issue. Unfortunately, the prints want to stick too much to the FEP....

Re: Need help in calibration, extreeme setttings!

That picture of your calibration print in Emerald looks fine to me. I suspect the reason your prints are failing is because you're using the small supports. Don't use small supports; as the pdms ages (even during the first print) there can be enough light scattering from the dulled area on the pdms ...

Re: Does anyone have 100% success casting yellow?

But I suggest you use the Boric Acid water formula I have posted here a couple years ago. I use it anytime I have lettering that I want to make sure is going to come out well. Hey AK! How hard is it to break the investment off the cast metal? Is it as hard as removing phosphate (platinum) investmen...

Re: No imprimo

Re: First print using FEP and custom made build table

Andreas, The first thing I did was sand the build table flat using 120 grit sandpaper. Note how early sanding shows the build table had high and low spots. https://photos.smugmug.com/GraciesGold/B9-Creator/n-TBCbC/i-S8QTKD3/0/L/i-S8QTKD3-L.jpg But after a lot of sanding, the table approaches flat. h...
