B9 Forgives my neglect....

Robert, I do that to my recoatings too, but have you noticed that where the PDMS supposedly cures where you ran it up the sides just kind of rubs off when you clean the VAT? Though I suppose I haven't had the same problems like leaking ever so maybe it doesn't matter. I left mine recently about a we...

Z axis Linear Bearing Upgrade

I just got mine in and installed them. It sounds like it is smoother. One thing I noticed when I tried to do a dry run print is the motor sounds really loud like it is trying hard. This only happens when I start a print however, otherwise it is pretty quiet. I was hoping the bearings would fix this....

What causes the beeping though, because sometimes I hear it too though I am 98% sure i never got resin in there. I noticed it stops depending on the location I leave the arm

build table raise after print

still having the same issue. I did have one successful raise the other day but couldnt tell you why it worked. it was working fine the first 10-15 prints of the machine i did. It does seem to successfully print for the most part though except still having that xy shift issue at the top of some thing...

cleaning vat

Great idea. I usually just soap and water it but it always seems to leave cloudyness cause of the drying process. What do you guys use to clean and dry it with? I bought walmart microfiber towels but like i said they don't make it "window clear" when I try and dab the water away. However I have noti...

Build table calibration experiment

hmm I am not sure i FULLY understand the issue really, which may explain why some of my prints have odd problems.... maybe something i havent noticed yet... So instead of like in the calibration steps it sais to loosen the 4 screws so when the build platform hits the PDMS it pushes the black thing d...

GEN 2 ALUMINUM "KAT VAT" coming soon!

So glad to hear people having good prints from this. I can't wait to buy some when it is my turn and try them out. These should definitely just be the replacement for the ones that are all acrylic, Mike should work out a deal with ya :) Also is there a way you could update the first page or somethin...

build table raise after print

This red stuff is hard to photograph but hopefully the pictures help http://www.b9c.com/forum/files/uploads/2014/01/899e8-photo-1.PNG http://www.b9c.com/forum/files/upload...

build table raise after print

Hey everyone I've recently run into a weird problem after my prints finish with the build table not raising up a couple inches like it did before. It seems to have just decided to do this now and I am not sure why. Normally the print finishes and the build table raises up whatever the default settin...

Anyone build there B9 from scratch?

I bought the kit, but just from looking at the aluminum parts I would assume this isn't too difficult to make. Looks like just holes drilled and bent in certain areas, tapped a couple spots, etc. If you are familiar with machining or working aluminum I doubt it would be a problem. I have no idea as ...

Isopropyl alcohol 70%

I personally found the trick with 70% (all i have used...) is spray the part off, rinse as much as you think necessary with the alcohol. Let part sit for a while to dry. THEN cure it, and you shouldn't see any white crap. I don't even rinse mine in soap. Not sure if that is important or not. The...

PDMS curing

I have a terrible time actually cleaning the things. They seem to be a magnet for dust or particles from the microfiber cloth, or just what is apparently floating around my house. Soap and water does okay, but still seems to leave some resin residue. I've tried palmolive, alcohol, regular hand soap....

PDMS curing

What about keeping it level during the curing/heating process? I am having difficulty doing so. I used my oven to cure the PDMS and it appeared to work great. But after a super failed print where everything was off, I noticed the pdms was tilted more to one side than the other. I did remember to cal...

GEN 2 ALUMINUM "KAT VAT" coming soon!

Tribetype made a good point. If I am home during the printing process, I usually check it until I actually see a part emerge from the VAT. A window in the side of the VAT would be a cool improvement. Regardless I am interested as well! Has these been actually used yet to see if theyre an improvement?

MakerJuice and B9R-1 hybrid. Nice results.

That is some really really impressive detail from this machine! I am really excited about this machine. Although I have had hiccups with mine already (as we all have probably), it still rivals machines 10x it's price or more. Different types resins also make it pretty versatile. Is this resin combo ...
