NuVat by Evert - Testing Results

Mike, thanks for taking one - a big one - for the team. I'm doing large items at 70 xyz, so you potentially saved me from the same fate. A miracle coating would be nice, though PDMS replacement has become pretty easy with practice.

Mike, do you have plans yet to sell vats with the new glass already installed? Just wondering if you plan to work something out with the creator so folks can buy new vats with the magic glass already installed rather than having a vat converted.

Sylgard 184 availability & replacements

Are you currently using any Subsequent Overlift? I was having a similar problem at 0 overlift. When I changed the overlift to 1mm, the problem went away. I'm printing at 75 xyz, so you might be able to use a smaller overlift than I am.

where to get a new DC servo motor?

I found these wires from Pololu to work great without having to do any soldering. Just make sure you get the wires in the right holes - they are not connected straight through. 24" rainbow pack with pre-crimped M-F ends: http://www.pololu.com/product/2007 For Male end connector (plugs into motor con...

lswatson, how is testing going on the magic goo that replaces Silgard 184? Are you able to share more details yet? It's almost time for me to do a PDMS rip. Would love to use your magic goo.

.b9m materials file for alternate resins and mixes?

Has anyone created a library of .b9m materials files for alternate resins and mixes? My current mix is 50% B9 Red + 50% MakerJuice SubG Red. I need to figure out the new settings for B9 software 1.7x. I would greatly appreciate if some of the more experienced experimenters could export their...

3D Model Repair Software

After nearly a year I loaded my broken model into the latest Autodesk Meshmixer 2.5 - and fixing it was so effortless that it's weird I had so much trouble in so many apps. I didn't even have to run the repair function - I just chose Edit/MakeSolid and then deleted the original object and exported t...

Hollow models

More good news on the hollow front. The Autodesk 3D Print Utility has been rolled into Meshmixer and they've added drain hole creation!

SOLVED! Thanks to Tim Yoshi for bringing this to my attention. Autodesk has been busy since we last discussed their offerings...

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

Tim Yoshi, you have saved my butt yet again. You are a rock star! I reviewed all the Autodesk apps a while ago, but they've been busy since then. Woohoo! I can print my big monsters now! I owe you a beer! http://rs717.pbsrc.com/albums/ww173/prestonjjrtr/Smileys%20Holidays/Halloween/FrankDancesWi...

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

Looks like a different problem - I tried importing exported 24 bit files without change and it didn't work - slices went to zero. I tried it in 1.6 and 1.7. Am I doing something wrong?

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

I tried batch converting the files to monochrome and importing and that failed, so I'll stick with color data. Not an optimal solution but it will do for now. Would be nice if that was configurable in the future - the 24 bit files are much larger but contain the same data as 1 bit.

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

So I have the program working so far to load all the bitmaps and fill the 3D array with bytes. It is indeed memory intensive. I can't load more than 2000 slices right now, and the max # of slices is just over 4000 (at 50.8 microns). I will deal with that issue later as I have yet to have an object w...

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

That's why I want to load it into a coordinate-based 3D array. The z is then as easy to calculate as the xy if it's all one big 3D array instead of slices. The math is going to get weird where it's not 90 degrees, so the hollow area might be made up of cubes with my first pass. It will look like Min...

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

Excellent! Thanks. Here's the plan: 1. Figure out how to load all BMP files (via Delphi) and extract the coordinate data. 2. Apply parameters and math to determine optimal hollowing of large solids (not extremities) without creating need for internal supports. I actually think this is easier than it...

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

I stand corrected. Netfabb Pro will export 1 slice file into multiple bmp files with one command:

http://wiki.netfabb.com/Export_and_Save_Slices

However, it doesn't support B9j format and $300 is a bit steep for experimentation.

How to read the B9 slice file for pixel data?

Darn. I was afraid it wouldn't be as easy as I had hoped. If I can figure out how to convert the slices into coordinates, I believe I can write a program to do auto-hollowing (my ultimate goal) in a short amount of time. It's converting the bitmaps to coordinates (and back again) that's the hard par...

Software Update? Roadmap? Product Backlog?

Robert, thank you for asking. 5 posts above this I posted links to 3 specific posts. The first 2 links include the specific word "arrogant". Not just implied, but that specific judgement. As far as stupid goes, I will give you a specific example that does not include the word stupid but is certainly...
