So your graphite flask breaks inside the melter.

During my second pour, the graphite flask broke into pieces as I tried to raise it out of the melter. 180 grams of bronze all over the bottom. I really did not want to replace a $700 thingy. Thinking about how to get it out and do no damage. Ran an idea by Daniel. He thought OK. Turn the melter upsi...

Re: Better Casts with simple sprue change

Forgot to mention the supports/sprues for the open 60mm pcs on the right are tapered to .6mm Three per shape. So (3) tapering sprues, ending at .6mm feed the whole 60mm long shape. So they fulfill their two functions. Print support and sprue. I credit the vacuum casting equipment with anything usefu...

Better Casts with simple sprue change

I usually get very good results casting B9 Mix. Although two shapes can be problematic at times. I changed the outgoing sprue and now am getting 100% of my difficult pieces every time. I'm sure all you casting gurus know about something like this, but I've never even seen anybody cast, so its new to...

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

One more retouch from Germany. I wish I had these skills. The original was posted earlier. While my personal taste is for a photo to look very real and immediate, art show juries and others prefer this kind of look for promotional purposes. Or just to get in the dang show. The shows use these for ou...

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

A bit more camera play. A photographer friend in Germany added a few words to rough photo I sent him for critique. He took one of my shitola pics and cleaned it up and did a lot of other stuff I have no clue about. The second is one of today's play. I replaced the black poly tile with black plastic ...

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

Always a pleasure to have something to post.
If not for the B9, I'd be scheduling parent conferences, counting the days till summer break and
cursing the new curriculum.

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

New rings.
Sterling silver shank with patina bronze sculpture and gold over Crystalline Bronze shank with rhodium over Crystalline Bronze sculpture.
Had to get away from stock shanks. They totally suck.

Re: Anybody want to demo a B9 at London art show?

Thank you, Robert.
Should be a good time for the right person.
And exposure for the B9.

I have resin prints, raw castings and stuff to sell to back up the presentation.

Anybody want to demo a B9 at London art show?

I will be doing the Parallax art show in Chelsea, London in late July. I'm traveling from the metro Washginton, DC area. The opportunity exists for demonstrations during the 3 day show. Which is held in the 19th Cent town hall of Chelsea. The manager of the show likes the idea of setting up a B9 pri...

Re: Please Critique my Casts

Confirm the temps in your furnace or calibrate to make sure you're hitting those temps. Also check to see all filaments are working. You can do this by checking resistance against mfg recommendations. I saw this after everything working fine for a year. Ends up one part of one of my three filaments ...

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

Thank you. I blame the equipment and the fact I follow directions. Except with it comes to spruing. Zero training. I haven't ever seen anybody cast. Wish I'd started casting 30 years ago. More soon. Edit- I neglected to mention the casting tips Daniel has posted here. Like brake line air injection, ...

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

This is why I love my B9's. Print, bronze casting tree and proof of concept sculpture on ring mounting. Probably more to come. And I love the vacuum chamber casting set up. Rings were sprued at 90 degrees with a single sprue. Very mixed models and 1mm prongs on the mountings all came out. Thank you,...

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

Cool. The combination of acids I use, there are three, only work on one of the three alloys I cast. Which is fine, as the others do patinas better. Interestingly, the metals noted in the alloy are not affected by any of the acids. A local metallurgy professor I consulted with thinks its etching an u...

Re: Differential Geometry Jewelry Models

After getting told what an idiot I am for not doing rings by a troika of young designers across from me at a show in NY, I thought I'd try a few rudimentary models. Fortunately, they held together long enough to take a picture. Time to work on some shanks that look like something other than cut tubi...

Re: B9 Creator.exe is not a valid application

It would be helpful if someone from B9 would suggest what download I may need.

I have no clue and nothing is on the thumb drive I use for this off line computer.
Which suggests I didn't previously have to update or load anything.

Thank you in advance for some direction.
