Re: slicer crash

The slicer works fine on macbook, but passing files back and forth between computers is a pain. We are working on replacing the graphics card with something newer, but it would be nice to have an alternative way of slicing models.

Re: slicer crash

I don't think it is a driver issue since I have triple checked. My graphics card, although old, is fully supported by Windows. It is definitely not a model issue since the model is a single component closed 2-manifold without any degenerated triangles or self-intersections. I am curious what could c...

slicer crash

B9Creator: v1.8.3
Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 3450

Graphic driver is up to date according to Windows.

Do I need to buy a new graphic card to just slice a model? What cards are supported? Is there a way to roll back to the old B9 software where no GPU dependency is required?

Thanks!

Squashed XY

Dear all, I have noticed a large XY inaccuracy from my design. Here is an image of a some cube frames I use as tests. https://dl.dropbox.com/s/equlbusz52903dn/geometry_inaccuracy.png The vertical bars should have the same thickness as the horizontal bars to its right, but the thickness of the vertic...

Re: Geometry Accuracy

thanks guys. I am not going for 100% accuracy, just trying to learn the limit of this printer. If there are still room for improvement, I would gladly try it.

Re: The new forum

Are the older posts not indexed by the new forum's search engine? I am trying to search for more information on the thread that discusses recoating PDMS with dam, but I can only find recent forum posts. E.g. searching for the keyword "dam" does not yield any results. I am pretty sure I hav...

Geometry Accuracy

Dear all, I just want to know what kind of accuracy you guys are getting from B9Creators? With the cherry resin and printer adjusted for XY 30 micron and Z 30 micron, I have noticed X and Y dimension are consistently 0.15 - 0.2mm thicker, and Z dimension is consistently thinker by 0.2mm. Is this on ...

Re: "Slacking layer" after changing vat

Just a brief update. I have switched to cherry resin, the part no long have the slacking layer problems. It might be the resin or some setting for cherry resin that fixes the problem.

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

I did not shake the bottle before pour the resin into vat. Should I do that? The models shown here are actually quite small (just a few millimeter tall). This might also cause the material to appear to be lighter in color. Robert, I have moved my projector to its extreme location with the screw you ...

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

@behold3d How does a magnifying glass help in calibration? I have two hypothesis for explaining the difference: 1. The PDMS of the new vat is not as level as the old vat. This could introduce a suction force pulling down the print when sliding it off the PDMS coating. Since the "slacking layer" are ...

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

@robert, @behold3d Yes, I did recalibrate each time I switch vat. However, as a newbie, I am not confident about my calibration skill. :( Is there an easy way to check the quality of the calibration? @mike Yes, both are factory coated metal vat. The old one is a bit cloudy but still usable. The new ...

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

It seems different vat does make a big difference:
Image

With my old vat, I am able to space support much wider without problem. Could the height of PDMS cause this difference?

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

I have done a brief test on support density: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/9nrl92zf4x9bkwy/support_test.png?dl=0 It seems 2mm support separation is the only case that has no "floating layers." The test is printed using the default setting shown in my early post. Is 2mm the typical support sepa...

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

@robert I have put in an order to cherry resin. With 1:1 mix, I should use the default setting for cherry, right? @mike Do you have recommendation about what value should I set shutter speeds? The shutter speed felt difference after I swapped vat, but I have not measured it. Could it be possible tha...

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

Yes, I have calibrated build table and projector multiple times. Is there a way to check if build table is correctly calibrated? My understanding is that if the build table is not correctly calibrated the cured layer would just sit on PDMS instead of attaching to build table. This loose layer would ...

"Slacking layer" after changing vat

Dear all, I was able to get some great prints last week until the PDMS became cloudy. However, after I switched to a new vat (I have 2 vats for non-stop printing), I am having trouble printing some models that used to print fine before. In particular, I have noticed some type of "slacking layer/resi...

How to prevent part from warping?

Thanks for the suggestions. The part shown here does touch the built platform. It becomes slightly warped when I peeled it off, and warps even more when it is drying on the table. I have also noticed that thin vertical bars (printed along the Z direction) also warps during drying. As Mike said, it m...
