Software suggestions:

1. In post #8 of this thread https://forum.b9c.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=4755&p=39181&hilit=custom+top+supports#p39181 , Mike discusses how to add / modify supports tips. Basically, adding a sphere to the tip of the supports to make them easier to clip off without damaging the print. May ...

Thanks, Mike. I hope you're well.

Oh, congrats to the B9 Team for the Core models. They're outstanding!

Using a Mac to drive a 1.2

Hi Folks, Long time no visit. I purchased a Core 530 and life is good. I had put the 1.2 away, but now want to work with it also. I only have a spare Mac to drive the 1.2. I understand there is B9 software available to do this. Can anyone comment on life with a Mac running a 1.2? Waves from San Anto...

Re: offtopic question for jewleryshop owners

Oh, and you don't need an Ishor system to refine. I suggest instead understanding the chemistry so you can figure out what to do. There's a book in the internet written 80 years or so ago that teaches jewelers how to refine. I can't remember the author's name right now. But when I get home I'll look...

Re: offtopic question for jewleryshop owners

I've refined "a lot" myself when I was having trouble with a refiner's accountability. They were shorting me. So to prove to myself that my numbers were correct, I refined my scrap gold. My yields were spot on. The refiner WAS shorting me. That said, once I found a reliable refiner, I stop...

Re: One of those "use all my stuff to make a ring"

Very nicely done Robert looks great. I just did one that the customer loved I was less enthusiastic but she wanted something using her old EU diamonds and chipped mine cut rounds. It came out ok but it was a bugger to set up and cast. ended up not filling the first casting then I cast it differentl...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

I recalibrated the build table with a thin sheet of plastic (one side of polyethylene ziplock bag). The calibration was easy enough. It appears my build table is about 0.07mm higher off the pdms than before. Subsequent prints went fine, but it still seems like it's struggling too much to slide off o...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

Thanks, Dan. I was headed in the general direction of your advice, but with software. I hadn't considered doing it mechanically, with a thin sheet of plastic. Let me see if I can find some. It would be nice if there was a software "offset" in the printer settings that would raise the build...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

So far, I've done the following: - replaced the PC board - cleaned the printer - replaced the x-motor - replaced the usb and hdmi cables - used a different computer, with a fresh download of the b9 software I'm able to get prints off the machine. It just seems that the printer is struggling too much...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

I took the printer apart and cleaned things. Apart from some pdms-looking junk on the bottom of the gold arm, I didn't see much. This pic is, unfortunately, after I cleaned the arm. https://photos.smugmug.com/GraciesGold/B9-Creator/n-TBCbC/i-JSZ4kCR/0/bbd73d22/L/i-JSZ4kCR-L.jpg I had sent off for a ...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

The overnight printed complete. Five rings on the print, but one failed. Sometimes that happens, I suppose.

I have no more commercial prints in the que, so I'll probably take the printer apart. Clean rails, play with the existing x-motor, etc.

I'll let y'all know what happens.

I'm thinking of hanging the 1.2 on the wall

I'm thinking of hanging the 1.2 on the wall I just need to manage the space around that area a little better. Hanging it would solve a few problems. Is there anything I have to watch for? How level do I have to make the mounting bolts? Yeah, I can draw straight lines, and use a level; but that doesn...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

Perhaps I spoke too soon. The only cables I had were too short, so I connected another computer to the printer that I could place closer. It printed the job fine, but the vat seemed to be hanging. I quickly ordered another x motor, just in case. They're not that expensive. Today, I put in a fresh va...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

Thanks, Robert. That would have been good advice.

I was easily able to move the vat with the toggles. But the vat would hang during printing. I suppose this points to a cable problem

Re: Position and supports

My thoughts 1. The first crucifix I would print it vertically, but I'd tilt it back about 30 - 45 degrees, AND tilt it to the left (or right) 30-40 degrees. You'd then only have two supports to add to it. 2. The 2nd crucifix. This is one more challenging, as you have ornamental work all over the pla...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

Sorry about my slow response. I took a video of the machine jamming during a calibration print. It printed fine for about 13 minutes, then slowly started having trouble releasing off the pdms. It's a long video, and as I don't really know much about video editing / compressing. https://photos.smugmu...

Re: v1.2 jamming during print

Thanks, AK. I've done that. No difference. It's still jamming.

I've taken a video of the jam, but it's 18 minutes long. I need to edit it a bit so y'all can see it.

In the next day or so....
