Re: Vat Nano-Coating?

OOPS! Sorry, the company doesn't hold stock of transparent FEP, PFA, etc sheet and it will cost $700 for a 4' x 4' sheet.. They only have white PTFE sheet in stock. They say that in order to stick parts together we need to treat the surfaces in an apparently ''secret way'' for a big fee... A little ...

Re: Vat Nano-Coating?

Hi! I tried NeverWet coating, see the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w4cB6RmRTA It's not oleophobic but only super hydrophobic, tried it anyway.. I had the results I kind of expected.. I would've liked to try with EverDry super amphiphobic coating but I guess it wouldn't last long unless I ...

Re: PDMS microwave cure in 3 easy steps

If your vat yellowed then someting is up. [...] Were u getting them too hot. I use a infrared detector to check my oven temp. Can't always trust the temp settings on these ovens. Well, I was setting the oven at 80*C, That's about 200*F.. I guess I shouldn't have trusted that oven then Wow, the Meta...

FunToDo resins

Last resins I bought were the Standard Blend and the Industrial Blend from StudioCubed, the US retailer for FunToDo. They also have a Castable Blend that I did not order, perhaps some of you could... The resins are fantastic but deceiving in the same time: Fantastic because there is almost NO WARPIN...

PDMS microwave cure in 3 easy steps

Hi! So before I'm posting this I've been testing this technique a few times and BINGO! it works all the time It all started with a silly experiment with some left over PDMS while re-coating... After I poured the PDMS in the Vat, I had some leftover in the cup and I just decided to see what happens i...

PDMS Replacement - Ideas and suggestions

Yes!!! yesterday I fell on the same Paper and I subscribed to Science AAAS to access the whole paper. https://pubs.aaas.org/Promo/promo_setup_rd.asp?dmc=P0RFB1 It's free and you can choose many interesting publications. It's actually easy to do: 1 VAT with a borosilicate Window, up side down, an arr...

So today I bought some NeverWet and tried it on a fresh piece of acrylic plexi. https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t1.0-9/10009890_269472936545501_1414666591_n.jpg It says Superhydrophobic, repells water, mud, ice ''and otherliquids'' so I thought I'd give it a try. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f...

perpetual_- dreamer , I tried to print a mold for PDMS Microfluidic Chips. The guy at the McGill lab wants intricate channels 50µm >> 300µm large, variety of deapths, etc. First we tried to print positives with Spot-e(lastic) resin but they were leaky because of the apparent pixels on hte surface a...

Yes, shrinkage is an issue to me because I'm printing micro-stuff for optical fiber sensors, etc. I know how to 3D model my stuff according to the resin I use and my own understanding of how the resin will shrink depending on the particular shape. In my case, every 0,01mm counts. But when someone se...

Salut, etienne!
I'm based in Montréal. Where are you?
Very nice work there, with your Alu VAT. Du solide! I also like Kirks' VAT, it's got a great style.
What do you think about the super hydro/oleophobic coating? with Ultra Ever Dry or something...
You want to do some R&D on that?

Hi! I tried coating acrilic sheet with PTFE dry coating but it didn't work well. It never really dries, teflon stays kinda waxy. It is good hydrophobic but a bad oleophobic so one oil-based resin will dilute the coating tilll the acrilic is exposed. We can apply sticky teflon film on all the VAT par...

Hi! Somrtimes, the slicer gives me errors, especially when I slice a layout with STLs from SolidWorks, only rarely with STLs from SketchUp. Some of the slides have errors like a black triangle in areas where there should be light, or white triangles in areas where it shoould be dark. I found out why...

danmr, I allways do my supports in the CAD software. akgold, you're joking... that was funny XD Step 1 mentions ''The projector lens should be clean and focused.'' and it's enough to remind us to look at it. If the dust cover is on we should notice. But it would be easy to add a few word in there: '...

New B9C/arduino message?

Aha, so it might be that some connections are sensitive, I should probably dis-assemble the electronics and put them back together, making sure everything is connected tight. I did put some sticky gum around the USB plug awhile ago, thinking it would solve it, but didn't. I also noticed that when I ...

I get this message allll the time. I do upload the firmware, sometimes I don't. Should I? Do you get the same? Sometimes it aborts my prints, before it starts fortunately. After this message, the B9 window is ''Searching...'', I have to unplug the USB and plug it back. Is it just me? http://www.b9c....

no, because when I Abort the Table rises a bit. And the Z works normally except when I try to print. Wait, now it works! I was set at 0 Breathe and 0 Settle and for a long time now, it's been working fine with some Jam Errors once in a while (normal).. Now I set Breathe and Settle to 1 sec and got n...
