I think I will work on a design just for this contest, I wouldn't mind having one of the new for myself!

Software v1.7.0 Beta

So, I installed the beta, but.. I'm printing from a netbook with a res of 1024x600 and I can not resize the print window smaller to see the bottom control check boxes or click the create button. I was able to tab through it and get it printing. You can check boxes with tab + space with out a mouse j...

131:1 motor ordered and sketch modified. After installing the motor, just upload the sketch to the Arduino, and done?

Thanks Mike! I am moderately comfortable editing Arduino Sketches. I have a couple that I mess with using addressable LED's for making lighting projects. Just to make sure the firmware v1.1.2 ? I can open the firmware arduino sketch. Which 3 #define statements need to be changed?

x axis motor/ vat motor Loud

Quote from mikej on March 10, 2014, 21:24 The 131:1 motor will need a firmware mod to work. That options is being incorporated in the new software (and will be standard with the coming v1.2 hardware). The new firmware is a huge improvement on the x motor action, true speed control without loss of p...

x axis motor/ vat motor Loud

I have noticed over the last couple week that the motor has become noticeably louder. I am wondering if it might be getting close to time to replace it. If you place your fingers on the motor you can also feel a lot of vibration as the vat moves. It has makes a kind of screeching noise. Thoughts? I ...

Z axis Linear Bearing Upgrade

I only clean the guide rods with a bit of alcohol and paper towel ( to remove dust and and anything else) then lightly oil with machine oil. Even though they are sealed top and bottom I think it is still a good idea to have the guide rods lightly lubricated.

To over-lift or not to over-lift.

@KNSCI 0.635 mm over-lift for subsequent layer. It is just my person preference to have the build table lift, I think the models look smoother.

To over-lift or not to over-lift.

overlift is the amount the Z arm moves up after the VAT moves to release the model before it cycles back. You can adjust it in the "Printer Cycle Settings" I do not change the Initial Layer settings, ONLY the Subsequent Layer setting.

To over-lift or not to over-lift.

I do and I think many other people are doing it as well. I was thinking about it the other day, and some people use 1mm or 2mm, or even 4mm. Then I thought ,well the Z-axis is moving with a stepper motor. That is why the slicer is set up at 6.35µ increments. I believe one step moves the Z axis that ...

Robert, just tilt the vat if you around after the print finishes, let it run to the other side away from the window.
