Re: Moving VAT

The movement of the vat releases the suction formed when the item is cured / grown.
It's necessary for the b9.

Re: Ring is oval

Looks like a version 1.1 With a aftermarket (mikes ?) vat (anyone help confirm ?) That distortion is usually caused by binding / sticking of the z axis. If you search the forum you will find heaps of info including a lot of modifications, but simply put the threaded rod that controls the upward move...

Re: Ring is oval

G'day Carl,
Generally that's sticking of the z axis but post which machine, who assembled it, any mods etc and I'm sure you'll get plenty of help from the forum.

B9 software not compatible with Windows XP?

Comes up with a error something along the lines of "failed to install 64bit" or similar but all runs properly.
I've run all software versions on the same laptop since the B9 started.
I have never had any problems at all.

B9s in Australia

G'day Alex, Good to see you jumped in. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I have bought my resin direct from Mike. I just buy 3 or so bottles at a time and by the time it's all shipped to perth I'm pretty sure it's much of a muchness in regards to pricing. I think you'll find you won't go through a...

If it helps I have done the same thing - jammed and error coded on me. Was quite a surprise to open it up and realise.

Printing troubles

When I test I use a simple shared claw fully set ring - so claws the whole way around the ring. This way I can see that the print comes out even on both claws (both sides), have plenty of areas to measure on and if you make it with say 4mm cheniers (tube, bezel - not sure what you guys call it) then...

Perhaps the exception is the machine specific multiplier - there are plenty of discussions regarding that.

Please help pt 2

Just a suggestion - did you consider increasing your base cure higher ? It seems after increasing your msm you were able to get more complete results but still not 100%. I'm assuming you maxed the msm out, but you can also adjust the cure and overcure individually to test if that's the problem. ...

Another casting issue to consider

I found this guide recently (8 months after I'd first read it and marked it down as a "must get around to".
Pretty clever way to get more airflow I thought. Maybe something that might be of interest to you.

Set gems in B9 prints before casting? ("stone in place casting")

Try cubic zirconia - they are cheap and actually handle the slow ramp up heat from casting quite well. I think diamond will crystallise but I'd be happy to be proved wrong. With cz don't quench after casting (allow to cool naturally) and give the cz's a small amount of extra movement in the resin (n...
